KINTAI Arts Residence

The KINTAI Arts Residence

Kintai Arts Residence is a rather new artistic initiative located on the coast of the Curonian Lagoon, Lithuania. Its goal is to provide spaces for artists coming from various fields (music, visual or interdisciplinary) to work solitary or in active social conditions, encouraging encounters with contemporary art practices outside of urban cultural centers.

In residency, we offer various opportunities for your work and living environment: private studios
and rooms for 1-4 people.
In an old former school building, there are studios for artists and representatives of different fields
of art: three individual studios and one shared-space studio, also one big shared-space for
exhibitions. For sculptors, wood carvers, and interdisciplinary artists, we have a spacious ancient

We are offering you to live in a historic homestead in Kintai or our Residency. The rooms are with
furniture and all conveniences. In each room can live from 1 to 4 people. There are rooms with private conveniences; there are also rooms with
shared conveniences, especially for a big group of incoming artists. Some rooms have a mini kitchen.
We also have a few shared kitchens; there is an opportunity to cook and eat outside.

For painters and artists in other disciplines, there are 2 individual and 1 shared studio, as well as a big exhibition space. There is also a music practice room with a new piano, there are office and meeting rooms as well as a shared kitchen in the old school building available for your convenience. For sculptors, wood workers, multidisciplinary artists musicians and painters, there are also spaces available outside of the main residency building.

For music, dance, theatre rehearsals, and production activities, we suggest you use eight separate
spaces in our local community surroundings—Cultural center, Lutheran Church with its buildings,
barns, schools. All of them you can find in the center of the town, close to each other.

Considering your needs, we can book various places for rehearsals and work: big shared-space
studio (~60 m 2 ), three smaller rooms for working (20-35 m 2 ), space for exhibition (~110 m 2 ), hall
with stage, lighting, and sound system with some of the musical instruments (~450 m 2 ), barn for
dancing, performances, and rehearsals (~200 m 2 ), another barn for works with wood, smaller
architecture, sculptures, painting, and installations (300 m 2 ).
We are also offering you an opportunity to use the gym, basketball, and volleyball playgrounds. We
have shared-space Lutheran Church buildings for rehearsals and concerts. In Kintai, you can find
other options: a lot of big walls, fields, a forest and, of course, Curonian Lagoon (Kuršių marios),
where you can participate in active sports as much as in peaceful leisure, also, in Ventė Cape
(Ventės ragas) you can find a place for the monitoring of migratory birds – all of them are perfectly
suitable for your creative ideas.
You can also use bikes (20 units) for your trips around the town.
There is an opportunity to book lightning, sound systems, and a build-up stage.

During the residency, there are ample possibilities to present public artist discussions, readings, lectures, concerts, etc. A group exhibition takes place in June-August. Works-in-progress can be publicised in social media in cooperation with the artists.
