KINTAI Arts Residence

The KINTAI Arts Residence

Kintai Arts Residence is a rather new artistic initiative located on the coast of the Curonian Lagoon, Lithuania. Its goal is to provide spaces for artists coming from various fields (music, visual or interdisciplinary) to work solitary or in active social conditions, encouraging encounters with contemporary art practices outside of urban cultural centers.

*

This elaborate initiative seeks to create a productive environment for inspiration and concentration as well as establishing close cooperation between artists, musicians, thinkers, and professionals from other cultural fields through interdisciplinary programmes and residencies. As a knowledge-based platform for innovative creative production, Kintai Arts Residence integrates the social and cultural framework of Klaipėda region while simultaneously supporting a strong international focus.

*

Located in a small rural town, the Residence is currently inviting artists to develop their
visual projects. Kintai Arts also organizes Kintai Music Festival that in 2020 will be
taking place for the 9 th time. The town itself is closely connected to the surrounding
nature. With an hour drive or trip by boat one can reach world-renowned natural
landscapes of Curonian Spit, the city of Klaipėda, or stroll around the uncanny
landscapes of Lithuania Minor.

*

This open call is for residencies in the timeframe of May–June and 6 September–6
October. There are 7 rooms with individual or shared bathrooms and kitchens, shared
studios and a possibility to do a public presentation or an exhibition in the two main halls
or other cities in Lithuania by arrangement.

The residency is now under construction and will have fresh rooms available in May 2020!

Presentations

During the residency, there are ample possibilities to present public artist discussions, readings, lectures, concerts, etc. A group exhibition takes place in June-August. Works-in-progress can be publicised in social media in cooperation with the artists.

Scheduling and Duration

For the meantime, the artist-in-residence program is available between May 15 and October 15 (summer season). The duration of a residency is from one to three months (in special cases up to six months). Rooms for “artists-on-tour” and shorter-period residents (less than one month) can also be provided by special arrangements.
